Private commissions

Each year I accept a small number of private commissions — portraits, landscapes, and interior scenes made in oil on canvas. The waitlist keeps the work slow, personal, and true. If you have something in mind, write to me.

The process

  1. 01

    The conversation

    It always begins with a message. You share what moved you — a landscape, a face, a memory of a place — and I ask the questions I need to understand it fully.

  2. 02

    Reference and sketch

    I gather references — your photographs, my studies, occasionally a visit — and prepare a small preparatory sketch. Nothing is committed to canvas until we both feel the composition is right.

  3. 03

    The painting

    The work takes between six weeks and six months, depending on scale and layering. Oil paint needs time to dry between passes; that patience is what gives a realist painting its depth.

  4. 04

    Studio previews

    You receive photographs at key stages — underpainting, first colour pass, final glazes — so you see the painting come alive, not just the finished piece.

  5. 05

    Delivery

    Once fully cured and varnished, the painting ships worldwide, insured and carefully crated. Certificate of authenticity signed by the artist is included.

Questions

What subjects do you accept?
Portraits (single figure or couple), landscapes from your own photographs or a place I visit, interior scenes, and still life. I do not accept AI reference material.
What sizes and formats?
From intimate small works (30 × 40 cm) to large statement pieces (up to 100 × 140 cm). Larger commissions are considered on request.
How much does a commission cost?
Price depends on scale, complexity, and the number of figures. I quote personally after our first conversation — most commissions fall between €800 and €4,500.
How long is the waitlist?
I accept a small number of commissions each year to preserve the depth of the work. Current wait to begin is typically 2–4 months; delivery follows depending on scale.
Deposit and payment?
A 30% deposit reserves your place and covers materials. The balance is due before shipping. Payment by bank transfer or Stripe.
